Independence Day Celebrations

The day of Independence is the most a proud day for any nation. India too is amongst those proud nations who have earned freedom after an extended period of struggle to part ways from the British rule. 15th August, 1947 is the day of India’s Independence. It is when India was brought into existence and appeared on the face of this earth.

India’s Independence Day holds great significance for all Indians and is celebrated in its true color across the country. As we are aware of the fact that India is diverse in cultures, we would see all these cultures merging as one nation on this very occasion. Nobody is discriminated by class creed or religion and all come together as one nation.

A National holiday is announced in offices, schools, government institutions etc. Locals illuminate their houses and hoist the Indian flag high upon their roofs. Every individual wants to celebrate it in their own way from dressing up in orange and green to march along the road singing out patriotic songs. Every sector in the country is busy rejoicing in various ways. Even the media doesn’t stay behind in entertaining the nation with nationalistic shows, documentaries and films.

A major attraction of this day is the Prime Ministers speech at the very famous historical site of Delhi, Red Fort. The speech is followed by a march past in commemoration of the martyrs who lost their lives in their struggle for freedom. It is definitely a site worth witnessing. At the end of the ceremony, the Indian Flag is hoisted in the air with the National Anthem in the background. It raises a great sense of patriotism in every individual.

Indian Independence Day is not only a day to rejoice but to thank those without whose efforts we would not be celebrating this joyous event. Such remarkable freedom fighters include Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhai Patel and many more courageous leaders.

Have a Wonderful and Joyous Independence Day!
