Longchamp, presented The Longchamp Million at the Royal Western Indian Turf Club in Mumbai as an ode to its French heritage and equestrian roots. Founder, Longchamp, Jean Cassegrain was inspired by his daily drives to the last mill in Paris, located on Longchamp Racetrack. In 1948 He decided to name his company after Longchamp, as the mill recalled a literal meaning of his sur-name Casse-Grain (or the seed breaker).
Longchamp’s logo, a galloping horse, is a symbol of elegance and movement. Jean Cassegrain’s designed symbol is an identity the House of Longchamp will never stray from. Even presently, the brand’s core collection, created with exquisite French craftsmanship, is always inspired by horses, boasting of saddle inspired details with braids, laces, paddings, prints and embroideries.
Owing to this connect; Longchamp hostedwill be hosting their first million race in India in association with Atout France and La Vallee Village to create a complete French experience for its patrons. Guests including Delna Poonawalla, Malti Jain, Zenia Lawyer, Nitya Arora, Radha Jetley, Tanisha Mukhejee and Neeraj Gaba, to name a few were seen enjoying the afternoon.
Talking about the launch of this property, Founder and Executive Director, DO IT Retail, Radha Kapoor Khanna, said, “As a partner to the brand in India, we felt it was imperative to not just bring the product to the country but to also share its history, heritage and the lifestyle associated with all things French and equine. With Longchamp Million, the brand is keen to build an experience that brings to life the elegance associated with the sport which the brand is synonymous with and make it an apt addition to Mumbai’s social calendar.”
