Having good family is as essential as the air we breathe in, it helps us find our way at the end of the day and will always be there for you no matter what. A healthy and constructive relationship with your family members not only helps you in your character building, but also paves way for future harmony and concords for you.

Having a good family is only a matter of few pointers whose applicability will ensure you a good healthy constructive relationship with your family members. They are:

  • Respect each other:

It all comes down to it. One word – Respect. This one word ensures the most perfect of relationships among families and should be exercised thoroughly.

  • Communicate and compromise:

If communication is one end of a healthy relationship, compromising is another. No relationship, family or otherwise, can function without communication and compromise. Listen to what they have to say; try to be there for them when they need you, and give them your time. Also, compromise whenever and wherever possible.

  • Give occasional gifts:

In a relationship, giving occasional gifts to your loved ones and family members only increases the feeling of affiliation and love. The best gifts are not the expensive ones, but the ones that depict the love and show that a lot of thought has been put into it. So, surprise your family now and then with custom made gifts.

  • Eat together:

One extremely important aspect of having a good family is having a relationship that is based on spending quality time together. Even if you can’t manage to squeeze in hours for your family, the least you can do is eat one meal of the day with them.

  • Have occasional family time:

It can be once a week or once a month. It’s the thought that matters. Plan a dinner or a picnic out, catch a movie together or simply just lounge in front of the TV with the entire family sitting together. But make sure that the activity you have picked out is enjoyed by every member of the family.

It takes two to work a relationship out and your family has to meet you halfway in order for the relationship to work out. But once it does, you’ll realize that there is no feeling greater in the world then of being loved by your family.
