Each organization is a platform for learning and action for an interested manager. By taking charge of his own time and talent, a managers uses this platform to make things happen in the organization. This also builds intellectual capital of the individual and the organization. Sometimes, we unconsciously prevent such talent from getting exhibited through bureaucracy, lack of trust and risk taking. Yet, given the same conditions, some managers are able to do a great job while others are not. The purpose of this book is to highlight the life stories of these individuals so that many managers may recognize the intellectual capital building opportunities they have in front of them and act with rigor.”
About “100 Managers in Action”:
“100 Managers in action” is an attempt by Professor T.V. Rao, to bring into focus the achievements of Indian Managers, who have made an impact and a mark in their respective fields. The book was written with the intention of identifying hidden leaders and their qualities and inspire others through their success stories.
A 360 degree feedback tool was used to identify those who made an impact on others. The tool focused on leadership qualities like:
- Vision and long term thinking
- Domain knowledge and technical know-how
- Results and action orientation
- Interpersonal skills
- Team Work
- Continuous learning
- Managing various stake holders
A group of juniors, seniors and colleagues assessed the performance of the managers in various roles and those who made a higher and uniform impact were identified for this book. These managers were taken from a data base of 8000 managers from over 42 companies for which TVRLS had conducted 360 Degree Feedback and leadership development programs in the last 15 years.
A few established and successful leaders covered in the book are: Mahendra Agarwal of Gati, Bhaskar Bhat of Titan, G.V. Prasad of Dr. Reddy’s etc.
