Born on 5th November 1988 in the capital New Delhi, India, Virat is the youngest of the three children of Prem and Saroj Kohli.Virat’s father was a lawyer and died in December 2006.

Having a splendid batting average of over 40 in the test matches and right above 50 in ODI’s, Virat is one of the biggest assets of the Indian Cricket. Being a middle order batsman, who can also open the batting, Virat has out shown his cricketing skills right from the begi

nning. After being selected as captain to the U19 WC in Malaysia in 2008, Virat held the heads of his nation high by scoring superb 235 in mere 6 matches averaging 47. In 2009’s Emerging Players Tournament, Virat’s contribution was significant in India’s winning the cup.

Virat opened up his professional career through IPL. In 2008, he joined Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was not performing up to the mark in his first two years in IPL but later after 2010, Virat seemed to be getting up to the pace of the professional cricket and started showing what a gem he was, getting preferred over Jacques Kallis and Rahul Dravid. For a newbie, this was like a dream come true!

His ODI career has been quite outstanding right from the beginning. In the very first series, He scored the crucial score to help India win and level the series. Kohli has proved to be extremely crucial at time when major players were injured and played responsibly, leading his country to win in big matches.Virat has been in the limelight in the World Cup of 2011. His highest score of 183 in Asia Cup saved India from a probable defeat against Pakistan. This was the highest chase score by Indian team against Pakistan. Virat has been recently introduced to the Tests matches and is expected to be a viable asset for the Indian team.
